Your Questions, Answered
PRF, or Platelet Rich Fibrin, is the next generation of treatment for hair loss. It allows you to harness the power of your own body's healing factors to promote hair growth. PRF is a second-generation platelet concentrate treatment containing platelets within a fibrin matrix this fibrin contains growth factors, platelet cytokines, and stem cells that help rejuvenate the scalp, improve hair growth, and promote fast wound healing.
Exosomes are tiny vesicles found naturally within your stem cells that play a crucial role in cell-to-cell communication. They are isolated and utilised for their potent regenerative properties packed with growth factors, cytokines, and signalling molecules that work to stimulate hair growth, support cellular rejuvenation, and reduce inflammation in the scalp.
During treatment, microneedling or a Skin Pen device creates micro-channels that allow the nourishing exosomes to penetrate more deeply into the dermal layers.
We recommend a series of 3 PRF treatments initially, conducted one month apart, followed by a follow-up at 3 months and 6 months after the initial treatment. For Exosome treatments, 4–5 sessions are recommended for optimal outcomes, with each session approximately 2 weeks apart. The number of treatments required may vary from person to person.
Hair growth and hair loss occurs in phases, so the regeneration process can take months and require multiple treatments to achieve optimal results. Initial results are usually visible at 4–6 weeks, and hair thickening and growth will continue to improve gradually over the following 3–6 months. For Exosome hair treatments, you may see thickening and reduced hair loss in approximately 2–3 months. Patience is necessary and results vary between individuals.
Allow approximately 90–120 minutes for your PRF appointment. The procedure involves:
- Photos taken of the treatment area
- Numbing cream applied for 45 minutes for comfort
- A small amount of blood withdrawn using PRF-specific equipment
- Blood placed into a centrifuge to separate the PRF
- PRF carefully injected into areas of hair loss and thinning
- 15-minute observation period before you leave
As the procedure has little to no downtime, it is often considered a "lunchtime" procedure.
Persons with the following conditions are not considered candidates for PRF:
- Cancer or chemotherapy treatments
- Acute or chronic infections
- Abnormal platelet function or blood disorders
- Any severe metabolic or systemic disease
- Use of blood thinners or systemic corticosteroids

Potential side effects of PRF treatments include pain, bleeding, and/or bruising at the injection site; flushing, swelling, or itching; dizziness or nausea; and in rare cases minimal effect from the treatment. All risks will be discussed in full at your consultation before any treatment proceeds.
